Braves predicted to trade $80 million 3x All-Star in deadline fire sale

The Atlanta Braves have had a disappointing 2025 season to date. After seven consecutive years in the postseason, Atlanta enters the second half 42-53.

The team is well out of postseason contention by now and will likely look to sell rather than buy at the trade deadline. They don't have many trade chips, but should listen to offers on the ones they do have.

One of their biggest trade chips is designated hitter Marcell Ozuna, who is in the final year of his contract.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report recently predicted that while the Braves don't have many pieces to sell, Ozuna will likely be somewhere else after the trade deadline.

"It's a bit late in the year for 'signs of life,' and the Braves still managed to lose two of those five games, now 9.5 games back in the race for the NL's third wild-card spot. They don't have much in the way of impending free agents to sell, but look for Marcell Ozuna and Raisel Iglesias to play August and September elsewhere," Miller predicted.

Ozuna is having a down year with the Braves. The three-time All-Star is slashing .239/.366/.396 with 13 home runs, 42 RBI and a .762 OPS.

However, he put together a strong season in 2024. Last year, the 34-year-old slugger hit .302/.378/.546 with 39 home runs, 104 RBI and a .925 OPS.

Perhaps joining a contender could get him back on track. Atlanta has no realistic hope of making it to the postseason in 2025, so it would be best to sell off any expiring assets such as Ozuna.

There will likely be plenty of teams that show interest in the veteran slugger looking for an offensive jolt.

We'll see where the two-time Silver Slugger ends up.
