Braves get important trade update involving Tarik Skubal, Freddy Peralta, and Joe Ryan

Alex Anthopoulos and the Atlanta Braves are hopeful that things will go the way they need to in the second half of the season.

The Braves have about another month and a half until the Major League Baseball trade deadline, when they're expected to be among the more active teams. If the Braves do what's needed on both sides of the baseball at this trade deadline, there's definitely a feeling that they can be the best team in baseball by a wide margin outside of the Los Angeles Dodgers

The Braves have played that well, and when factoring in the injuries they've dealt with, there's a lot to be excited about.

Atlanta needs help on both sides of things, but adding a starting pitcher or two is always at the top of contending teams' priorities.

According to one former GM turned reporter, if there's a possibility for him to land Tarik Skubal, Joe Ryan, or Freddy Peralta, there's a feeling he's going to do so.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Alex will prioritize adding a top starter if he thinks he can land an ace such as Tarik Skubal, Joe Ryan or Freddy Peralta. Otherwise, I think he’ll give Ha-seong Kim more time at shortstop and probably add another fourth outfielder-type before the deadline. Watch for him to go big at this year’s deadline for an elite starter,” Jim Bowden wrote.

Anthopoulos has been considered one of the best executives in Major League Baseball over the past few years and typically knows when to press the right buttons at the right time.

The hope here is that he does something similar for one of these elite starters, but I wouldn't really be that surprised if the Braves go in a different direction and try to bring in a cheaper option.
