Braves expected to get Ronald Acuna Jr. boost after late Triple-A scratch

A year ago, Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. suffered an ACL tear while running the bases. That meant he missed the remainder of the 2024 season and the start of the 2025 campaign in a tough blow for the electric outfielder. 

Acuna has been working his way back at Triple-A Gwinnett in hopes of coming back to the big league team. 

On Thursday, Acuna was originally in the Gwinnett lineup, but he was later scratched and removed from the lineup before the game.

While it's not official, Braves MLB.com reporter Mark Bowman hinted at Acuna being activated. 

"Kelenic is now leading off for Gwinnett tonight. Acuña is a healthy scratch. This indicates he will be in the lineup for tomorrow’s game against the Padres. His return will come three days shy of the one-year anniversary of his ACL tear."

Furthermore, Francys Romero said Acuna will be coming back to the braves on Friday to begin the series against the San Diego Padres. 

"Ronald Acuña Jr. will be activated tomorrow when the series between the Braves and Padres begins in Atlanta, per sources."

So, barring a surprise, it sure seems Acuna will be back and make his 2025 season debut on Friday in Atlanta against the Padres.
