Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur has been rumored to be on the hot seat because of the team's performance this season. Following their consecutive losses to the Panthers and the Eagles, fans are questioning his ability to lead the franchise.

Amid the rumor mill churning about Matt LaFleur's future with the Packers, sports podcaster Matt Chernoff dropped an interesting bombshell on the situation.

On Thursday's episode of "680 The Fan", he claimed that the Packers might allegedly fire their coach if they don't make the playoffs this season. He also claimed that his anonymous source said that LaFleur might be interested in joining a certain NFC South team.

"I got an interesting phone call earlier in the week from somebody I trust in the media who told me to put something on my radar," Chernoff said. "I was told by somebody to keep an eye on Matt LaFleur. And I said, tell me more.

"I was told that the Packers were one of the most stable franchises all of the NFL, might make a switch or at the head coaching position if they don't make the playoffs, which I was shocked to hear. ... But I was told that he still has connections with the Falcons, a good relationship and would be interested in coming back here. And I would tell you 100% that is the perfect choice for this franchise that could save them."

Matt LaFleur served as the quarterbacks coach of the Atlanta Falcons for two seasons from 2015 to 2016. He was a part of the coaching staff that competed in Super Bowl LI but lost to the Patriots, who secured a historic comeback victory.

Since taking over the Packers in 2019, he has led them to five playoff appearances, including one NFC Championship game during the 2020 season, when they lost to the Buccaneers. This season, they are 5-3-1 heading into Week 11's showdown against the Giants.

Matt LaFleur shares his thoughts on his hot seat situation

After losing to the Eagles on Monday, the Packers coach was questioned about his job security during the post-game press conference. LaFleur responded by saying that his focus was on the team's day-to-day progress.

"I'll leave that for everybody else to decide," LaFleur said. "I'll just focus on the day-to-day and try to do-- I feel like you're always coaching for everything in this league, you know? "That's just my mindset. It's always been that way. You can't ever exhale. You gotta always be pushing. That's just my mindset and that will be my mindset 'til they tell me not to coach anymore."

The Packers vs Giants game will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
