Boise State star Ashton Jeanty ranks first among RBs in handful of stats as Broncos push for College Football Playoff auto-bid

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has remained one of college football’s most exciting running backs through the first few months of the season despite not playing for a brand name school like Ohio State, Oregon or Alabama in conferences like the Big Ten or SEC.

Despite the potential lack of mainstream appeal, Jeanty has continued to turn heads and is putting up the numbers to do so. A recent tweet from CBS Sports College Football suggests Jeanty‘s push for a Heisman Trophy win shouldn’t be taken lightly.

The tweet nicely lays out all of Jeanty’s rushing accomplishments thus far this season. He ranks first in five major categories, including rush yards per game (192.7), total touchdowns (24), rushing touchdowns (23), points per game (16) and all-purpose yards (204.9 yards).

Boise State must win out to keep Broncos' College Football Playoff hopes alive

If the Broncos were to win out, an auto-bid is likely on the table. Continuing the dream season for Jeanty would keep him afloat for the Heisman, plus make his mark on college football for years to come.

For now, only time will tell. For Jeanty, it seems to be the beginning of a special career.

The Broncos travel to San Jose State, seeking their ninth win of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET, as Boise State is a two-touchdown favorite.

Boise State ends the season at Wyoming next Saturday before turning around Thanksgiving weekend, hosting Oregon State on November 29. Kickoff times for those games are 7 p.m. ET and noon ET, respectively.

The Broncos’ lone loss came in Week 2 to now-No. 1 Oregon, 37-34.
