Boat overturns off Liberty Island coast; woman and child in critical condition

A boat overturned off the coast of Liberty Island Saturday night, prompting a rescue effort by the NYPD and Coast Guard, according to sources.

Two people, a woman and a child, were pulled from the water after the 10:30 p.m. incident and had to be hospitalized in critical condition, according to ABC 7.

About a dozen other people were safely rescued from the water in New York Harbor.
