The Denver Broncos have waited a long time for a sure thing at the quarterback position and after trying several different players, the team has found its answer in Bo Nix.
Nix, when selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the draft, was expected to be good... eventually. But no one expected him to be this good this fast. Nix has the Broncos in position to compete for a playoff spot and individually, he could end up winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
Quickly becoming the face of the franchise, it seems that Nix would have had several conversations with the all-time face of the franchise, John Elway, by now. Surprisingly, the two have never met. Speaking with ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday, Elway confirmed that.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) November 19, 2024Elway has never even spoken to the team's current quarterback, which is quite surprising considering how close Elway once was with the organization. The team's starting quarterback from 1983-98, Elway was also general manager of the Broncos and president of football operations from 2011-21. He then held an official consultant role in 2022.
Sean Payton was hired as the team's head coach in 2023 and Elway's role with the organization ended. He has since retired from football, but will forever remain the greatest Broncos player of all time.
It is only a matter of time before Elway meets Nix, and that is something he says he is looking forward to. Any help he can pass along to Nix will likely be gladly welcomed.
