Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ties Joe Carter, Jose Bautista in legendary Toronto MLB playoff history

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is having a legendary postseason for the Toronto Blue Jays.

His home runs are as good a way to tell that story as any.

Vladdy hit a home run in each of the first three games of the ALDS. And since then, he's added three more homers to his tally.

That's right: Six home runs in the playoffs so far for Guerrero after hitting one on Sunday night.

That makes a couple pieces of statistical note.

First, Guerrero is the only Blue Jays player to ever hit six homers in a single postseason. The previous record was a four-homer postseason for Jose Bautista.

And with that, Vladdy has tied the Blue Jays' franchise record for home runs in a career in postseason play.

According to Sportsnet, two other players have hit six homers in their playoff tenures for Toronto: Bautista and Joe Carter.

Guerrero is on that list now, too.

And as you'll recognize from the earlier stat, neither of those other guys got to their totals in one postseason. They needed multiple years worth of playoff games to get it done.

Vladdy has done it all in one year.

Fittingly, it's after he signed a $500 million contract in the spring. He's doing everything he can to make that feel worth it.
