The Toronto Blue Jays put themselves in a fantastic position coming into the ALCS. They made quick work of the New York Yankees in the ALDS, beating them 3-1 in the five-game series.
They clinched the ALCS on Wednesday and have been resting ever since. That is the opposite of what the Seattle Mariners have been doing. They are coming off a remarkable 15-inning game against the Detroit Tigers on Friday.
Toronto's rotation is in a better position than Seattle's, given a three-day rest period, while Seattle went with seven different pitchers during their Friday victory.
Blue Jays' skipper reveals starting pitcher plans ahead of ALCS
Blue Jays' manager John Schneider has already decided who he is going to start in Game 1. Kevin Gausman will be handed the ball to start the series, and he will face off against Seattle's Bryce Miller.
After Gausman, Schneider plans on likely starting Trey Yesavage for Game 2 and Shane Bieber in Game 3, via Underdog MLB. Yesavage is coming off a masterful performance in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Yankees, going 5.1 innings while striking out 11 batters without allowing a run. Bieber, on the other hand, is coming off a shaky performance from Game 4, where he only lasted 2.2 innings in the 9-6 loss.
For the Mariners, their expected rotation is a bit cloudier. They are waiting for official word on pitcher Bryan Woo, who was not on the ALCS roster as he is dealing with right pectoral inflammation.
