The Toronto Blue Jays have some work to do to get back on track and into the playoff conversations this season.
If things don't turn around soon, the Blue Jays might be sellers come the trade deadline. It wouldn't be a bad idea to sell some players if things go wrong, but even if they turn around, the Blue Jays should consider a few trade candidates to move on from.
Zachary Rotman of Fansided.com predicted that the Blue Jays would part with fan favorite utilityman Davis Schneider at this year's trade deadline.
"Davis Schneider is another player coming off a strong 2025 who has struggled mightily in 2026," Rotman writes. "... Schneider is a fan favorite and has a solid track record, but how much longer can the Jays let this go on?
While losing Schneider would be a tough pill to swallow for the fanbase, this might actually make sense with Schneider the odd-man-out on the Major League roster, thanks to the emergence of a few others taking his spot(s).
Blue Jays predicted to trade Davis Schneider as odd man out
Once Addison Barger returns to the MLB roster, the Blue Jays will have to make a change with the roster at the MLB level.
The only realistic options to send back down to the minor leagues with a player option are Schneider, Brandon Valenzuela, and Yohendrick Pinango.

Realistically, only Schneider and Pinango might go down. But, with Pinango hitting .400 to begin his MLB career, and Schneider struggling with a .132 batting average and a .558 OPS, he's likely the odd man out.
And when it comes to constructing a playoff-contending roster, the Blue Jays might be better off trading someone like Schneider to some other club to acquire help for their injury-riddled pitching staff.
Rotman is predicting the Blue Jays will trade Schneider by the trade deadline, and while it would sting to see the fan favorite utilityman go, it's a move that might make the most sense for everyone involved.
