Blue Jays predicted to sign Orioles 4.03 ERA lefty starter to four-year contract

The Toronto Blue Jays had a very strong offseason leading up to the 2026 MLB season, but things went horribly wrong for many different reasons, and they fell well short of the postseason.

This upcoming offseason, the Blue Jays are going to be busy once again. While there will be plenty of lineup options worth considering, the Blue Jays should be eyeing starting rotation upgrades as well.

Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley is predicting that the Blue Jays will add a starter this offseason, signing Baltimore Orioles left-handed starter Trevor Rogers to a four-year deal that could fall around the nine-figure mark.

"Prediction: Rogers signs a four-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays," Buckley predicts. He also predicts that "nine figures could be a realistic target" for Rogers.

Buckley is predicting the Blue Jays will sign a starting pitcher this offseason, but do they really need one? Dylan Cease is incredible; Trey Yesavage is a good No. 2 or No. 3 alongside Jose Soriano.

Cody Ponce should be back next year after an early season-ending injury this season. Add in a few depth options like Bowden Francis and Jose Berrios, and the Blue Jays don't really need to add to their rotation.

But if the Blue Jays want to put together a high-upside and well-balanced starting rotation, they really could use a left-handed starter, with all of their current options being right-handers.

Rogers is a lefty starter who has some high-highs and some low-lows. He has a 4.03 ERA this season with a 10-11 record and 2.2 bWAR in 30 starts for the Orioles.

But one year ago, he had a 1.81 ERA in 18 starts with a 9-3 record and 5.3 bWAR in an incredible season for the left-hander.

Rogers is a bit more of a high-variance starting pitcher, but considering the strong Blue Jays rotation already and their need for a lefty, Rogers would make a ton of sense for the Blue Jays.

Buckley's prediction coming true would be a good thing for Toronto. Rogers has a lot of upside and would be worth adding this offseason.
