Blue Jays predicted to lose star slugger to a rival AL East team

One intriguing player on the open market is Bo Bichette. While the Toronto Blue Jays would love to have him back, that just might not be the case.

Bichette is viewed as one of the best offensive shortstops in the game, and plenty of teams are doing their best to strike a deal with him. However, he is getting ready to transition away from shortstop and start a new chapter at second base.

There are more than a handful of teams looking to make an upgrade at second base, which could drive up his price. But what teams have been linked to Bichette?

The New York Mets are a team to watch here. However, their recent deal with Marcus Semien may take them out of play unless Bichette is okay with moving to third base instead of second.

So what about the New York Yankees? They have Jazz Chisholm Jr., but trade rumors have been running rampant with him as of late.

ESPN's David Schoenfield believes Bichette could seriously be at play for the Bronx Bombers.

"Bichette could either provide another option at shortstop to Anthony Volpe, who struggled at the plate in 2025 and saw his defense regress as well, or play second, with Jose Caballero still around to back up both positions."

Bichette could either play shortstop for the Yankees, who do not feel the most confident with Anthony Volpe at shortstop. He is also expected to miss the start of the season, so that would be a hole filled.

They could also slot him in at second base, moving on from Jazz Chisholm Jr. The Pittsburgh Pirates are looking for an offensive upgrade and have enough prospects to strike a deal with the Yankees.
