Blue Jays' Kyle Tucker pursuit gets update involving 2 other teams

The big-name hitter free agents finally had something change on Saturday night when Alex Bregman signed with the Chicago Cubs.

But Kyle Tucker, Bo Bichette and Cody Bellinger are still available. And MLB is waiting for these contracts to get signed.

Tucker is the consensus top free agent, and the Toronto Blue Jays want him.

Their fanbase got an update on Sunday about what the latest is with Tucker.

It came from former MLB GM Jim Duquette, who is now a member of the media.

The first thing he shared in his post on X is that there are two other teams involved in Tucker: the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets

"(They) have all met with the player, either in person or over Zoom, as part of the recruiting process for a star player," Duquette added.

Duquette then finished with this speculation: "Will be interesting to see if any of the 3 teams increase their offers soon to separate themselves from the other."

The implication there is that the three teams are close together.

The Dodgers weren't thought to be pursuing as long a contract with Tucker as other teams, but that maybe they'd pay more money on a per-year basis.

The Blue Jays appear to be in the running.

If they really want Tucker, it's time to get going and close the deal. They're in the running, and it's a race Toronto should want to win.
