The Toronto Blue Jays have had plenty of issues this season.
One of them? It doesn't seem like their pitcher fielding practice drills from Spring Training have worked.
The Blue Jays' pitchers, and their catchers, have had a miserable fielding season so far.
Together, those two positions have already accounted for 17 of Toronto's 31 errors as a team:
Blue Jays have committed 31 errors this season (t-3rd most in MLB) & 17 of them have come from pitchers or catchers.

It's an exceptionally brutal rate. Those positions don't have a ton of chances to make plays, and at least some of them are pretty straightforward.
Despite that, the Blue Jays keep messing up.
There are six teams that have the same amount, or fewer, errors as an entire team than the Blue Jays have just from their pitchers and catchers.
The biggest offender is catcher Brandon Valenzuela, who already has a team-worst five errors. He simply hasn't come through throwing the baseball as well as Toronto would want from a catcher who has only appeared in 28 games so far.
His fellow catcher, Tyler Heineman, has three errors.
Among the pitchers, Kevin Gausman, Braydon Fisher and Dylan Cease each have two errors.
None of this is ideal, and it's something the Blue Jays will have to work on cleaning up. It's a lot harder to win games when pitchers and catchers are throwing the ball all over the yard.
