Blockbuster Thunder trade proposal pairs Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with $220 million superstar

The Oklahoma City Thunder just won the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

It was a hard-fought series that went the distance, but the Thunder were able to prevail on their home court. Of course, none of that would have been able to happen without franchise star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Gilgeous-Alexander not only won the MVP Award for the 2024-25 season, but he also won the Finals MVP after putting up 29 points, 12 assists, and five rebounds in Game 7. It was a truly historic season for the Kentucky product, and the Thunder are in a position to run it back in the 2025-26 season.

Even after winning a ring, the Thunder still have arguably the most assets of any team in the league. Is it possible the team could combine some of those assets to add yet another star to pair with Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams?

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report believes the Suns' Devin Booker could still be a realistic target for the Thunder. The Suns recently traded fellow star Kevin Durant and could be headed for a rebuild.

Regarding the possibility of Booker in Oklahoma City, Buckley offered the following:

So, yes, it's fair for opposing teams to at least dream about a Booker acquisition regardless what the Suns say. That's triply true for a team with as many trade chips as the Thunder possess. No matter if Phoenix would prioritize young talent or draft picks in a deal, OKC has plenty of both to supply.

It could be willing to fork over a fortune for Booker, too. But if they see him as the ideal co-star for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or fitting into a three-headed monster with him and Jalen Williams, they might be willing to splurge. Booker is on a seven-year run of averaging 25-plus points, and he has historically upped his output in volume and efficiency during the postseason.

As Buckley mentioned, the Thunder likely have enough young players and/or future picks to interest the Suns, even if they continue to insist Booker isn't going anywhere

Even without Booker, the Thunder are likely to be the favorites to win the title again next season. With Booker, though? The Thunder would be clear favorites and would boast one of the most deadly threesomes in recent history.

In 20254-25, Booker had another phenomenal season, even as the Suns struggled. Booker averaged 25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds and shot 46% from the field and 33% from deep.

To make this trade work, the Thunder could package Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort, and Cason Wallace, as well as some picks. In that scenario, Booker would replace Dort as the starting two guard and give the Thunder the best backcourt in the league.
