Billy Porter is one celebrity who won’t be gracing the Met steps.
In an interview with “Bevalations” on Wednesday, Porter matter-of-factly stated that he won’t be on the Met Gala 2026 red carpet.
“I haven’t been invited back since 2019,” he said. “That’s the only time I’ve ever gone, and the only time I’ve ever been invited,” adding that it was Ryan Murphy who invited him to the camp-themed event.
While he has only been one time, Porter made it count.
Dressed as a golden phoenix, he made quite an entrance as he was carried in on a black velvet bed on the shoulders of six shirtless men.
Placed at the base of the iconic stairs, Porter dramatically spread his sweeping golden rings while dressed in a fully embellished bodysuit and shoulder-length jeweled wig.
Porter shares that he felt particularly snubbed without an invitation to last year’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
“I’m just going to throw that out there, [but] I’m good,” he said, adding, “The reality is, when people ask me, you need to know I was not invited and I’m good.”
“I don’t go to places where I’m not welcome,” he concluded. “I’ve earned the invitation and it’s ok that I don’t have it because there’s a level that I’ve reached that doesn’t require validation from the outside. I’m going to sit and live in that because it helps keep me sane, too.”
Porter hasn’t exactly had a positive relationship with Vogue magazine over the years. In 2023, after slamming Hary Styles’ cover for the publication, he proceeded to call editor-in-chief Anna Wintour a bitch.
