Bills' Super Bowl credentials a mystery after free agency

1 hour ago 3

The Buffalo Bills have addressed two key areas of need this offseason, and we are only a little over a week into it.

The receiver position was always going to be a big focus, and while A.J. Brown was mentioned as a possible target, it was the Chicago Bears' weapon, DJ Moore, who was signed for Josh Allen.

Then, it was linebacker Bradley Chubb who was signed to the roster, giving the Bills some more juice on defense.

But were those two moves enough for the Bills to break through in the postseason?

That's the exact question Sports Illustrated's Eva Geitheim is asking.

"The Bills have made two big splash moves through the first week of free agency—trading for DJ Moore and signing outside linebacker Bradley Chubb," Geitheim wrote. "Both players address key areas of need for the Bills, but will they be enough to shore up those spots to help Buffalo win a Super Bowl?

"It’s Super Bowl or bust for the Bills with Josh Allen at the helm, and though Moore and Chubb are both good players, the Bills are counting on both to make a significant impact— even if they end up addressing those positions in the draft too."

Bills still in Super Bowl contention

When you have Josh Allen, you will always be in contention.

However, the big knock on Buffalo is that they either haven't gotten him enough weapons, which forces him to put on the Superman cape and do it himself, or the defense has badly let him down.

So, with the signings of Moore and Chubb, the hope is that the boost can raise the floor of both units, and, depending on what happens over the coming weeks in free agency and the draft, the Bills may strengthen even more.

Right now, is Buffalo better? You could make the argument. But better enough to win the Super Bowl?

That's quite a conversation starter.
