Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has reportedly listed his Orchard Park residence for sale, intensifying discussions about his future with the team. This follows General Manager Brandon Beane's recent comments indicating that contract extension talks with Cook have stalled.
Cook, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, has been vocal about his desire for a significant pay raise. In February, he expressed on Instagram Live his expectation for a $15 million per year extension, a figure that would position him among the league's highest-paid running backs. Beane addressed these public negotiations, stating, "The business is the business. Would I prefer we don't take the business outside? Yes. I think that's always the best way to handle it."
Despite Cook's impressive performance, back to back, there's uncertainty about the team's willingness to meet his salary demands. Beane has emphasized a preference for internal negotiations and has not committed to any immediate extensions.
The listing of Cook's home adds another layer to the ongoing contract saga. While selling a property doesn't necessarily indicate an impending departure, it does raise questions about his long-term intentions with the Bills.
