Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills have put together a season that few outside of Buffalo expected. This past offseason was filled with doom and gloom talk about the Bills and their departures while many prematurely crowned the lowly Miami Dolphins and New York Jets as the new kings of the AFC East, Instead, Josh Allen has put together a truly remarkable season worthy of his first MVP award. However, there are those that will always have it out for Allen, specifically Bart Scott of ESPN. On First Take, they gave a slap-in-the-face comment on Allen's season and his overall goals.
"If Josh Allen leaves and gets knocked out of the playoffs and he wins MVP, he's probably going to see that as a successful season because he proved that he didn't need a number one [receiver]," Scott said. "If Lamar Jackson gets an MVP and loses, he'll view that as a disappointment..."
What a hilariously stupid take. And Bills offensive tackle Spencer Brown agrees, as he responded to Scott's words on X.
"They just let anybody on TV," Brown said.
The absolute idiocy that continues to come from the MVP debate is actually impressive. But it's also not surprising that the former Raven would go to bat for Jackson. To quote John Mulaney, Jackson could walk up to Scott and pour hot soup in his lap and Scott would apologize to him. Scott also seems to forget that Allen and the Bills defeated Jackson in the playoffs in the 2020 season. Or that Allen has five playoff wins to Jackson's two. Or that Allen has had this type of season after losing a superstar compared to Jackson who added arguably the best running back in football to his offense. But hey, I digress.
Allen will have the chance to further cement himself as the MVP this Sunday when the Bills host the New York Jets.
