Ray Davis has a bright future in Buffalo.
The Bills' second-year running back showed as a rookie that he's got strength and burst. He also might be the RB1 of the future if James Cook doesn't stick around after this season.
But Davis also has a special talent that no one knew about: He can placekick.
On Friday night, the Bills didn't have kicker Tyler Bass available at their night training camp practice.
To make up for that and still get the chance to run some field goal repetitions, Davis stood in as the emergency kicker.

He made 2-of-3 from 28 yards out. It's not exactly perfect, but it's notable.

— alex brasky (@alexbrasky) August 1, 2025Davis was a fourth-round pick in 2024.
As a rookie, he ran 113 times for 442 yards with three TDs. He also caught 17 passes for another 189 yards and three more scores.
At 5-foot-8, 220 pounds, he's got a sturdy lower half that could certainly pass as kicking legs.

Obviously, if Bass got hurt during the season, the Bills would sign a new kicker for the following week.
But sometimes a mid-game injury to a kicker can throw off the entire gameplan.
Davis' ability to potentially make some short kicks could come in handy in what would otherwise be a nightmare scenario.
Is the second-year RB normally the emergency kicker? No.
But it looks like Davis can be that guy for Buffalo, one that they'll hope they never have to use.
