Bills QB Josh Allen sends strong message to running back James Cook amidst contract dispute

The Buffalo Bills have reached extensions with several home-grown stars this offseason, but one player still waiting for a pay-day is running back James Cook. General manager Brandon Beane spoke on the matter at the owners meetings a few weeks ago, saying conversations with Cook's representation have been "shelved." This doesn't mean the two sides won't come to an agreement on an extension eventually, but for the time being, the talks won't continue.

As the Bills voluntary offseason program begins, many players will likely be asked about what's next for Cook. One of those was quarterback Josh Allen, so said guys understand that this is a business.

"I think the guys in this locker room understand the business side of it," Allen said. "I'm not the GM, I'm not the coach... "I know James is working out and getting the job done... It will get figured out when it gets figured out."

Cook is coming off a season in which he led the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns and had 21 scores in the regular season and postseason combined. While he hasn't gotten a deal, it seems to be in the Bills' best interest to keep him in Buffalo.
