With preseason football action kicking off on Thursday and the regular season opener set for Sept. 9, the NFL season is officially on the horizon.

Betting markets are now unveiling futures at a premium, including tentpole options like Super Bowl winner and conference winner, as well as individual player props and stats.

DraftKings Sportsbook currently lists Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills as championship contenders, sharing the second-shortest odds (10/1) to win Super Bowl 61 alongside the Ravens and behind the favored Rams (+550).

Last season, Buffalo secured a 12-5 record, finishing just behind the Patriots in the AFC East. Despite a Wild Card victory over the Jaguars, the Bills suffered another crushing postseason exit, falling to the Broncos in the Divisional Round after a late field goal by Will Lutz.

In response to the early exit, the organization moved on from Greg McDermott and elevated offensive coordinator Joe Brady to the head coaching role to lead the franchise forward.

Bills NFL Win Total prediction

Between 2020 and 2024, the Bills dominated the AFC East, securing four consecutive division titles and surpassing the 11-win threshold in each campaign.

While regular-season success has been a staple for Allen and his squad, it’s been their inability to get over the hump come playoff time that troubles fans in Western New York.

Allen comes back after breaking the all-time regular-season rushing touchdowns record last season, while running back James Cook won his first rushing title with 1,621 yards, delivering a groundbreaking performance.

The roster sees a significant boost on both sides of the ball with the arrivals of D.J. Moore and Bradley Chubb. Meanwhile, the divisional landscape is shifting, as two rivals introduce new quarterbacks.

The Dolphins are navigating the post-Tua Tagovailoa era with Malik Willis at the helm, while Geno Smith takes over the reins as the Jets’ starter.

Betting on the NFL?

Although Drake Maye returns to New England with a new premier target in AJ Brown, the Patriots face an uphill battle to replicate last year’s success following a tumultuous offseason of headlines involving Mike Vrabel.

With the season opener approaching, I find value in wagering on Buffalo to hit the double-digit win mark yet again and re-establish their divisional dominance.
