Bills facing three-decade-old issue after Eagles loss

1 hour ago 2

The Buffalo Bills' 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles made a lot of things clearer.

The AFC East is no longer obtainable, and the potential path to the Super Bowl has now been revealed.

With the loss, the Bills will be on the road in the playoffs.

That doesn't sound daunting when you have Josh Allen as your quarterback, though, does it?

But for CBS Sports' John Breech, in giving Buffalo a "B-" grade in the loss, he also made us aware that the Bills are up against history when the playoffs start.

"After struggling through three quarters, Josh Allen put on his Superman cape in the fourth quarter, but it still wasn't enough,” Breech wrote. “With this loss, the Bills have clinched a wild card spot, which means they'll be opening the postseason on the road. The Bills haven't won a playoff game away from Buffalo since 1992.”

Bills still playoff-bound

Having clinched a playoff spot last week, the Eagles game was about the AFC East.

Now that it is no longer able to be won, how the rest of Week 18 shakes up will be interesting to see if Buffalo's Week 18 game against the New York Jets will be a game that sees head coach Sean McDermott rest a host of his starters.

He won't be the only head coach to do it, either.

Still, with Josh Allen's ankle/foot injury, he might be one who, if Buffalo can, will sit out the Jets game.

Either way, the Bills didn't lose too much in losing to the Eagles. Just the division.

And now will have to break a road playoff drought that has stood for over 30 years.

So yeah, Buffalo didn't lose much.
