Lefty former Mayor Bill de Blasio’s son Dante de Blasio recently scored a plum gig as the political director of a union repping 17,000 restaurant workers, despite his relatively thin resume.

The younger de Blasio, 29, quietly revealed his new job with UNITE HERE Local 100, which reps which the service workers in the New York City area, on social media.

“Who knew there were nepo babies in politics? I expected more from a Yale grad,” said Ken Frydman, a longtime Democratic political operative, referring to Dante’s status as a poli-sci major from the Ivy League university.

Dante landed the union post after a push by his eternal-youth-seeking dad, 64, to try to get his son into politics and specifically into Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s new administration, insiders said.

When that effort faltered, de Blasio linked his son with the union — which had been headed by Bill’s cousin John Wilhelm for nearly a decade.

“First, de Blasio tries to get his son a plum job with the mayor, and when that fails, he goes to his cousin’s former union to land him a spot,” another Democratic operative told The Post.

“It looks like de Blasio is doubling down on his dose of nepotism.”

Dante has been intertwined with his dad’s political life from an early age, most famously in 2013 when the then-15-year-old appeared in a popular ad for his father’s ultimately successful mayoral run.

The younger de Blasio continued to make frequent appearances during his pop’s mayoralty, even after he graduated in 2019 from Yale, where he received NYPD rides to campus.

Dante spent his post-college years helping with his dad’s botched presidential bid, filming under-the-radar documentaries and seemingly dodging his parents’ very public, slightly messy open relationship.

The youthful progressive last drew headlines in January, when he was among more than 60 anti-ICE protesters taken into custody in a Manhattan Hilton hotel. He was charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing.

Dante’s new job is with a union that was formed in 2004 in the merger of the Union of Needletrades, Textiles and Industrial Employees and the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union and is linked to the powerful Hotel Trade Council, longtime allies of his dad.

John Wilhelm, the former mayor’s cousin, served as the union’s president from 2004 to 2012.

When reached for comment by The Post on Friday, Dante said he interned with the union in college.

“It’s an honor to serve Local 100 and the American labor movement,” he said in a statement. “In an age of stagnant wages and rising inequality, we need strong unions more than ever.

“Local 100 has been a source of inspiration since I interned with Unite Here in college through my recent work advising them on political strategy.”
