Bill Belichick‘s first season coaching college football is getting off to a rocky start. But it seems fans at home will not be getting that inside look they were hoping for.
Inside Carolina reports Hulu’s season-long documentary about the University of North Carolina Tar Heels is no longer moving forward, according to sources close to the program.
Decider reached out to Hulu for confirmation but did not hear back in time of publication.
Belichick first announced the documentary in August, saying it will “showcase” the university’s football program.
“It’ll feature the players working hard, which you guys do. It’s about the players improving and getting better through their hard work, which you do, and a program starting from where it started from several months ago, to wherever it goes during the season which, of course, we determine on the field,” he said.
“It’ll show our commitment to winning, it’ll show our commitment to the team, and that’s our priority,” he said.
Belichick noted at the time that there was “obviously a lot of interest” in the documentary, which he estimated would be “streaming later this fall.”

If the project has been scrapped, that makes this the second documentary series about Belichick and the Tar Heels that has allegedly failed to make it to the finish line.
It was previously reported that HBO’s Hard Knocks series was interested in doing a season focused on the Tar Heels under Belichick’s leadership. But his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson reportedly derailed negotiations with several demands, including that she be made an executive producer on the series.
Her demands led NFL Films to cancel the entire project. At the time, it was reported that she was also negotiating with a rival production company to create a documentary series about the team.
The team has already gotten off to a rough start this season, with some outlets deeming it the program’s worst start since 1888. And recent reports claim sources close to the organization believe it has become a “complete disaster” under his leadership, hinting that the trouble on the field is likely starting behind the scenes.
WRAL reports members of the program have leveled several criticisms against Belichick’s leadership, calling out nepotism on the coaching staff and a lack of communication from the coach himself that is impacting the team.
Some of the players’ parents also accused Belichick of fostering a “toxic environment.”
