“Big Brother 28” star Jason De Puy believes Kamu Kirk targeted him at the explosive Tea Party for “personal” reasons.
“It felt a little personal in the house because at that point I didn’t win the veto and I [was like], what are we doing here? I thought we were really having a beautiful Tea Party,” he exclusively told Page Six after his eviction.
De Puy, 35, continued, “So hearing everything outside of the house after the fact, I was like, ‘Well, I think that was a bigger moment than I realized in the Tea Party.'”
However, the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum said he learned a valuable lesson from his heated fight with Kirk, 32.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Have you discovered Jason? You went in the house to play as Jason, did you discover who that is?’ And I discovered who Jason was in that Tea Party moment,” he shared.
“Being pinned against the wall with no one to my rescue, and the way that I felt like I had to drop the persona, drop the drag queen, and just speak for myself, and I’m impressed with myself.”
As for Kirk, De Puy told us his “feelings in the house” about the MMA fighter — who is facing backlash online for joking about George Floyd’s death last year — “were completely correct.”
“I could tell that he was getting very irritated with me in the house for whatever reason just for me being myself,” De Puy explained. “Drag queen taken out of the photo, just who I was was a little threatening to him, and I didn’t know why he was so anti-me.”
De Puy noted that his “messy gameplay” didn’t warrant Kirk to “go so balls to the wall” against him.
“So all this stuff outside the house hearing about it, I’m like, ‘Oh, it makes sense,'” he added.

Despite competing on two seasons of “Drag Race,” De Puy wasn’t brought into the season as an “icon” alongside “Big Brother 26” alum Angela Murray and “Survivor” stars Dee Valladares and Rick Devens.
Instead, he started the game with the other newbies, whom he didn’t tell about his “Drag Race” background.
“If had I told the cast I was on ‘Drag Race,’ that still wouldn’t have given me the privileges or advantages that the icons had,” he explained. “So I was always going to be at the bottom of a totem pole compared to the icons.”
De Puy also said not being chosen for the fan-voted Time Capsule twist made him feel even more on the outs with the “icons.”
“I was at a disadvantage as far as being an icon too. And I don’t think the house would have even viewed me as that had I revealed I was on ‘Drag Race,'” he said.
“So I didn’t even feel the need to say it since I was not gonna get anything out of saying that.”
“Big Brother 28” airs every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and is available to stream the next day on Paramount+
