One of the second-round matches at the 2025 Berlin Tennis Open will feature former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina taking on qualifier Katerina Siniakova.

Rybakina has a 28-11 win/loss record in 2025, having clinched a title in Strasbourg, where she defeated Liudmila Samsonova 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-1 in the final. Barring that title, she has also reached semifinals in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, losing against Mirra Andreeva and Belinda Bencic, respectively.

Rybakina started her grass-court season at the Queen's Club Championships, where she won her first match 6-4, 6-2 against Heather Watson. However, she lost 4-6, 6-7 (4) against eventual champion Tatjana Maria in the next round. At Berlin, she began her campaign with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win over Ashlyn Krueger in the first round.

Katerina Siniakova, on the other hand, has not had a good year in singles in 2025, with nine first-round exits to her name. Her best result was reaching the semifinal in Cluj, where she retired against Lucia Bronzetti.

At Berlin, Siniakova won 7-6 (5), 6-1 against Mia Pohankova and won 6-4, 6-2 against Ashlyn Krueger to enter the main draw from the qualifying rounds. She began her campaign with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Viktoriya Tomova in the first round.

Elena Rybakina vs Katerina Siniakova prediction

Rybakina has a 74 percent win rate on grass, which is her best surface. Her biggest career achievement to date came on this surface, when she won the 2022 Wimbledon with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win against Ons Jabeur in the final.

Siniakova has a 53 percent win rate on grass, having reached two finals on the surface. Both are finals that came at the Bad Homburg Open in 2021 and 2023. While she lost the 2021 final 3-6, 2-6 against Angelique Kerber, she won the title in 2023 with a 6-2, 7-6 (5) victory over Lucia Bronzetti in the final.

Given their 2025 form and the match being on grass, Rybakina is the undisputed favorite to win the upcoming match.
