Bengals LB Logan Wilson requests trade after benching

5 hours ago 2

Following an offseason where the Cincinnati Bengals decided to prioritize the offensive side of the ball and sign Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to record-setting extensions, the team has been in rebuild mode on the defensive side.

The Bengals re-signed defensive standouts Trey Hendrickson and B.J. Hill and added to their defense through the 2025 draft, selecting Shemarr Stewart, Demetrius Knight Jr., and Barrett Carter – all of whom have since developed into getting significant playing time this season.

While Carter and Knight Jr. have seen increased playing time this season, it has come at the expense of longtime team captain Logan Wilson, who has lost defensive snaps. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday that the linebacker has requested a trade from the team.

What's next for Bengals LB Logan Wilson?

After getting selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Wyoming, Logan Wilson emerged as a key piece to the Bengals' defense throughout the years.

He emerged as a key member of the Bengals' defense throughout the years and was one of the key pieces to Cincinnati's Super Bowl run in 2022. He holds the NFL record for the longest fumble return for touchdown in postseason history.

Throughout his career, Wilson has registered 536 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, 11 interceptions, and seven forced fumbles in 75 regular-season games.

Having shown consistent production throughout his tenure in Cincinnati, Wilson is expected to draw interest from other teams. However, he still has two years remaining on the four-year, $36 million contract he signed in 2023.
