Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase predicted to break NFL record in historic season

The Cincinnati Bengals successfully kept their star wide receiver duo in town this offseason.

Many expected Tee Higgins to land a monster deal from one of several receiver-needy teams in free agency, but the receiver instead re-signed with Cincinnati. Chase also earned a massive extension, and now the team can enjoy having arguably the best receiver duo in the league for several more seasons.

In 2024, the Bengals had an elite offense but a mediocre defense. That mediocre defense ultimately kept the Bengals out of the playoffs. However, the unit should be better in 2025 after changing out defensive coordinators, and the offense could be even better as well.

In fact, Lou Scataglia of NFL Spin Zone believes Chase could have a record-breaking season.

Scataglia recently revealed some bold predictions for the upcoming season, and one of those predictions is for Chase to become the first player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 receiving yards in a single season.

Over the final eight games of the 2024 regular season, Ja'Marr Chase was actually on a 2,106-yard pace. Being that the Cincinnati Bengals may need to continue relying on the offense in the 2025 NFL Season, Chase could explode and become the first 2,000-yard receiver in the history of the NFL. He finished 2024 with 1,708 yards, which led the NFL.

The stud WR also led the league in receptions and touchdowns.

As Scataglia mentioned, the receiver led the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns last year, so it's not a huge stretch to predict Chase to break a record in 2025.

The closest to 2,000 receiving yards in a season was Calvin Johnson back in 2012. In that season, the Hall of Famer racked up 1,964 yards. Cooper Kupp also got close to the mark in 2021 when he totaled 1,947 yards.

Chase, meanwhile, came within 300 yards of 2,000 last season. Of course, Higgins will require plenty of targets as well, but Joe Burrow loves to air it out and the Bengals haven't traditionally been a run-heavy team.

Since coming into the NFL in 2021, Chase has been one of the best receivers in the league. The LSU product has earned Pro Bowl berths in each of his four seasons and has also surpassed 1,000 yards in each of his campaigns.

With the NFL becoming more and more pass-heavy, it seems inevitable that someone will reach the 2,000-yard mark.

Chase is probably in the best position of anybody to do so in 2025.
