Disneyland hit the brakes on some of its most popular attractions this week just as Spring Break crowds poured in.
The theme park’s famous Monorail — the state’s first daily operating monorail and a park icon since 1959 — went out of service Monday, according to Disneyland’s official refurbishment calendar.
The elevated train has long been a fan favorite for its sweeping views of Disneyland Park and its quick ride between Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney. It was originally built to showcase Walt Disney’s vision for futuristic transportation.
Joining the Monorail on the shutdown list is Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, which also closed Monday. Disneyland has yet to announce reopening dates for the attractions.
Other fan favorites at the legendary theme park remain offline as well.
At Disney California Adventure, the Grizzly River Run has been closed since January for its seasonal refurbishment, while Jumpin’ Jellyfish remains temporarily out of commission.
Meanwhile, the classic Disneyland Park ride Jungle Cruise has been closed since Feb. 17.
In total, at least five major attractions across both parks are currently unavailable to visitors.
The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, running through April 27, draws big crowds to the park for limited-time eats, drinks and entertainment. Disney has stressed the ride closures are part of routine maintenance and not influenced by the festival.
The Anaheim theme park cycles its attractions through seasonal refurbishments to keep the park in tip-top shape, even if the timing hits during busy period.
