Belarus and Russia return to action on Tuesday when they go head-to-head in a friendly clash at Yankee Stadium. Valeriy Karpin’s men are unbeaten in their last 12 outings since September 2023 and will be looking to extend this impressive run.

Belarus turned in an attacking show of class last Thursday when they cruised to a 4-1 victory over Kazakhstan in their friendly at Borisov Arena.

Alos Ferrer Carlos’s side have won each of their last three games, scoring 11 goals and keeping two clean sheets, having failed to win the four games preceding this run (1L 3D).

Belarus now go up against an opposing side that they have failed to get the better of in three of their four meetings since May 1999.

Russia, on the other hand, played out a 1-1 draw with Nigeria last Friday after conceding a 71st-minute equalizer at the Luzhniki Stadium.

Karpin’s men had won each of their previous eight outings, scoring a staggering 44 goals and keeping eight clean sheets since a 2-2 stalemate with Kenya in October 2023.

Russia have not been involved in a competitive game since a 1-0 loss against Croatia in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers back in November 2021 following their ban by FIFA and UEFA.

Belarus vs Russia Head-To-Head and Key Numbers

  • Russia boast a slight upper hand in the history of this fixture, having won two of the previous four meetings between the two nations.
  • Belarus have managed one win in that time, which came in May 2022, when they beat Karpin’s men on penalties in the LG Cup, while the spoils have been shared once.
  • Russia have lost just one of their 19 outings since their ban from competitive games in 2022 while picking up 11 wins and seven draws in that time.
  • Belarus are unbeaten in seven of their last eight away matches across all competitions, claiming four wins and three draws since October 2023.

Belarus vs Russia Prediction

Belarus have put together a fine run of results in recent outings but will need to be at their best against a rock-solid Russia side who are unbeaten in their last 12 outings.

Karpin’s men held their own against Nigeria last time out, and we are backing them to return to winning ways here.

Prediction: Belarus 1-2 Russia
