Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, after Friday's loss against the LA Lakers, displayed frustration during his post-game presser. He told reporters to go ask the coaching staff about his struggles during the NBA Cup game.

He was then asked what he could have done differently. Morant then looked at the coach's direction and provided an interesting take.

"Go ask the coaching staff," Ja Morant said. "According to them probably don't play me honestly. That's basically what the message was after, so, it's cool."

he hasn’t matured a bit since joining the league….sad to see tbh. they already fired a coach so i don’t think they’ll be looking at the coaching staff this time around Ja

The Memphis Grizzlies lost 117-112 to the Lakers. Ja Morant finished the game with a season-low eight points (3-of-14 shooting from the field and 0-of-6 from beyond the arc) and seven assists.

Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo was appointed to lead Memphis following former coach Taylor Jenkins' sack at the end of last season. His first full season has seen Memphis start the season 3-3, with the victories coming against the league's worst teams early (Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans).

Memphis failed to close the game after they led by 14 points at the end of the first half. The Lakers took over in the second half, cutting the first-half lead following a 34-22 third-quarter run.

Luka Doncic, on his return from injury, led with 44 points, 12 rebounds and six assists to take the Lakers to a 4-2 record for the season.

Ja Morant called out by Blake Griffin after Lakers' loss

Blake Griffin called out Ja Morant after his performance against the Lakers on Friday. The former player acknowledged Morant's talent but warned that with his current performance, the Memphis Grizzlies will find it hard to go far this season.

"I didn't love what I saw from Ja Morant tonight," Griffin said. "This is a guy who is insanely talented, speed is his number one weapon, and him just standing in the corner, not being aggressive, that's just not going to do it for Memphis." "We know how good he is, he is unbelievable, he's an All-NBA talent, but effort like this, for a guy earning $40 million, I mean, Memphis will go as far as Morant takes them, and I just didn't like this approach tonight," Griffin concluded.

Morant this season is averaging 20.8 points, 6.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game. Next for Memphis is a road game against the Toronto raptors on Sunday.
