The big box chain filed for bankruptcy in 2023 — but is back with a vengeance and searching for the oldest surviving Bed Bath & Beyond coupon in America for its Legendary Coupon Hunt. The nationwide, 21-day quest runs from June 22 through July 13 and comes with a pretty hefty prize.
A $100,000 home transformation will be given to the shopper who turns in the oldest Bed Bath & Beyond coupon alive.
The retailer’s iconic blue 20% off coupon became a cultural icon for years. Shoppers around the nation could always count on them as they never expired.
“For decades, our customers treated these coupons like treasure,” said Amy Sullivan, President of Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc in a press release. “They tucked them into purses, filing cabinets, cookbooks and memory boxes because they believed they would be valuable someday. We think they were right,” Sullivan added.
Getting in on the action is simple, find any old coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond + The Container Store and Kirkland’s Home and take them to your nearest location. And don’t worry if they are faded or crumbled, all are honored.
Additionally, you may have coupons that are worth more than 20% off — also fine. Each legendary piece of paper serves as an entry into the hunt.
This means that every coupon has a chance to make one person a winner. So how do you win? Easy, just find the oldest one.
The lucky $100,000 home transformation winner will be announced shortly after the chase and can fill their rooms with items from Bed Bath & Beyond, The Container Store, Kirkland’s, Lumber Liquidators and Cabinets To Go.
But wait there’s more! Other prices include $500 gift cards to 100 winners and $100 gift cards awarded to 50 winners.
The game comes on the heels of Bed Bath & Beyond + The Container Store’s new retail format. Now under the same roof, shoppers can score home essentials, storage and organization, custom spaces and other home services.
The retailer revealed 22 new combination stores will welcomes shoppers “immediately” while other locations will be converting over the coming several weeks. Back in 2024, The Container Store entered into a partnership to offer Bed Bath & Beyond products in its stores.

The comeback is happening just three years after Bed Bath & Beyond announced it was shutting down over 230 stores amid bankruptcy drama.
Overstock.com gave the brand a lifeline after purchasing its intellectual property, launching a new website and mobile app. The chain’s products were available online under the bedbathandbeyond.com URL with and updated loyalty program.
