The Chicago Bears went through the entire 2026 NFL offseason without making one key move that they really should've made.
That move? Adding a pass rusher to the defensive line. Last year's unit was incredibly disappointing, and despite it clearly being a need, the Bears didn't make any notable additions at the position this offseason.
ESPN's Aaron Schatz is urging the Bears to change that soon, and instead of going into 2026 relying on Dayo Odeyingbo and Austin Booker, to sign free agent former Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills edge rusher Joey Bosa.
Bears urged to sign Joey Bosa amid huge pass rush need
"Sign edge rusher Joey Bosa," Schatz writes. "... He has played most of his career with his hand on the ground, so he's probably the best fit for Chicago's 4-3 base out of the top three available veteran pass rushers."
While the Bears could look to a trade for Josh Sweat or Maxx Crosby to upgrade their pass rusher room, signing Bosa would be the much more feasible solution.
He shouldn't cost too much on a one-year free agent contract, and he would be a huge upgrade over their current options along the defensive line.
Booker has had his moments, Montez Sweat is a good starter, and Odeyingbo might return to his Indianapolis Colts form after one sack in eight games in his debut season with the Bears.

But, instead of relying on such a shaky room, signing Bosa would give the Bears exactly what they are lacking on the defensive side of the ball.
He has 77 sacks in his career, and this past season with the Bills, Bosa had a 12.2% pass rush win rate with five sacks, both solid numbers for a rotational edge rusher.
Bosa might not be in his prime anymore, but the veteran edge rusher is one of the best depth additions the Bears could make at this point in the offseason.
This unit needs more help, and Bosa would be a nice pickup for Ryan Poles to make at some point before the 2026 season.
