The Chicago Bears are 3-2 in the regular season, but following a Week 5 loss to the Green Bay Packers, there is some real concern about this team.

Injuries have begun to pile up a bit, and the Bears also have a lot of question marks about their defense. It's been a struggle so far this season, and it's clear that this defense needs help by the NFL trade deadline.

However, things just got a lot worse. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the NFL has punished edge rusher Montez Sweat, suspending him for two games for violating the NFL's PED policy.

Montez Sweat suspended by NFL for PED violation

"Bears edge Montez Sweat has been suspended for the club's next two games without pay for violating the NFL's Performance-Enhancing Substance Policy, per The NFL," Rapoport reports.

This is a massive blow for the Bears defense, which was already not playing well lately, especially against the pass.

They allowed the Packers and Jordan Love to make too many downfield completions in Week 5. The lack of a good pass rush is a huge reason why the defense is struggling lately.

Unfortunately, with this news about Sweat, things just got a whole lot worse for an already struggling defense.

For their Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons and their Thursday Night Football Week 7 game against the New England Patriots, they're now going to be down their best pass rusher.

While the Bears might be getting Caleb Williams back for Week 6, this report from Rapoport and the NFL reveals that they're going to be without Sweat for the next two weeks.

An already shaky defense just lost a key player for the next two weeks, putting a lot more pressure on the offense to figure things out, whether it's with Williams back or with whichever backup Ben Johnson decides to roll with.
