Bears named big winners of 2025 draft class

1 hour ago 3

In an ideal world, a team's rookie draft class will play big roles in their first seasons in the NFL, and for the Chicago Bears under Ben Johnson, they did just that.

Colston Loveland, Luther Burden III, Ozzy Trapilo, and Kyle Monangai were the standouts of the draft class, with all four playing key roles for Caleb Williams in Johnson's offense that led the Bears to the playoffs and even got a win as well.

But how does what Chicago's rookie class did in 2025 stack up against the rest of the NFL's?

Well, for NFL.com's Gennaro Filice, they are the best in football, ranking them No. 1 and giving them an A grade.

“Chicago just went from worst to first in the NFC North, thanks in large part to Ben Johnson tapping into Caleb Williams’ rare ability,” Filice wrote. ‘But the first-year head coach wasn’t the only person to help the second-year quarterback. Four rookies played crucial roles in a Bears attack that went from dead last in total offense in 2024 to No. 6 in ’25.”

Bears set up well for the future

There is a young, star-studded core that is beginning to form for Johnson and the Bears as we look ahead to 2026.

Loveland, Trapilo, Monangai, and Burden III are all expected to improve in Year 2, and when we add in another offseason for Caleb and Rome Odunze from the previous draft class, the Bears are in good shape.

Not to mention having a head coach/offensive coordinator who knows how to draw up plays to get the most out of his players.

So, after years of mediocrity, maybe the Bears are starting to emerge from the shadows, with their draft classes leading the way.
