Bears linked to massive deal for 21 touchdown star to help Caleb Williams

There will continue to be growing pains for the Chicago Bears in 2025, but the organization needs to take a step in the right direction.

After hiring Ben Johnson and making other changes to the coaching staff, as well as a hopeful year two leap for Caleb Williams, the pressure is on.

However, the Bears have already done what they've needed to do in free agency regarding their improvement on the offensive line. Last season, Williams was running for his life, and that's an issue for any young quarterback.

There are other ways for the Bears to improve their offense to help Williams in the short and long term, including in the run game. The Bears should be better on that side of the football due to how much better their offensive line looks.

Still, a few running backs on the market could help the Bears in 2025, and Pro Football Network linked them to one earlier in the week.

PFN believes J.K. Dobbins would be an interesting fit for them, adding that while they might not compete, giving Williams an opportunity to develop should be the plan.

"D’Andre Swift has an out in his deal after this season, and while the Chicago Bears loaded him up with work last season (295 touches), his 3.8 yards per carry weren’t exactly the efficient threat that they were hoping for...

"The Bears aren’t likely to compete at a high level in the loaded NFC North this season, but allowing their QB to develop with a little more help will likely be a priority, and this signing could help with that," PFN wrote.

Dobbins has a brutal injury history, appearing in just 37 games throughout his four-year career.

However, he's averaging 5.2 yards per attempt and has posted 21 touchdowns. If the former Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers back manages to stay on the field, he could fit with what the Bears are looking to do.
