Bears get strong words from NFL analyst after defeating Cowboys

The Chicago Bears notched their first victory of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 31-14 at Soldier Field. It was exactly the kind of breakout performance Bears quarterback Caleb Williams needed.

Williams went 19 of 28 through the air for 298 yards and four touchdowns, carving up a Cowboys defense led by former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus, now Dallas' defensive coordinator.

Moreover, this win marked the first for Ben Johnson as the Bears' head coach. Now that Johnson has crossed that off his to-do list, he will look to see if this performance against the Cowboys can get his team on a run.

Bears looked like a different team against the Cowboys

After the game, Marquee Sports Network NFL analyst Dave Wannstedt loved the Bears' effort after Johnson's comments this past week.

"He was saying practicing, but he was talking about preparing," Wannstedt said about the Bears' performance against the Cowboys. "That's what you do, obviously. When you practice, you're preparing to play, and everything that happens on Sunday is a result of the preparation that goes on during the week.

"For him to come out and say that, he was serious about it, and it was fantastic to see the players respond. Even when they weren't making plays, you could see the effort the offensive line was giving. You saw the defensive guys—three, four guys—hustling to the ball."

The Bears will aim to even their record when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders. Both teams sit at 1-2 and are eager to avoid dropping to 1-3. With Williams playing with growing confidence, Chicago could capitalize on a Raiders squad that has lost two straight games since their Week 1 victory over the New England Patriots.
