The Chicago Bears are 2-1 in the regular season and are looking to stay within striking distance of the 3-0 Minnesota Vikings with a Week 4 matchup against the New York Jets.

While Caleb Williams is likely not playing again, the Bears should still have confidence in winning this weekend. But that confidence would be heightened if only the Bears could rely on their backfield being fully healthy.

Unfortunately, with the Bears' announced Thursday injury report, that is not the case. Running back D'Andre Swift was a mid-week addition to the injury report, sparking some real concern for his Week 4 availability.

D'Andre Swift lands on Week 4 injury report as mid-week addition

On the Bears' Week 4 injury report on Thursday, after being a full participant on Wednesday, Swift was added to the injury report and did not participate due to a knee injury.

While Grady Jarrett and Joe Thuney were also full participants on Wednesday and downgraded to DNPs on Thursday, the Bears noted those were not injury-related (NIR) and were for rest reasons only.

Unfortunately, Swift's injury report listing didn't include any such specification. Swift was a true DNP on Thursday, which is a worrying development for the Bears' Week 4 matchup against the Jets.

While Kyle Monangai is trustworthy as a lead running back in this offense, if the Bears wind up being without Swift in Week 4, it would be a big blow.

That's especially the case with a backup quarterback running the offense. Regardless of whether it's Case Keenum or Tyson Bagent, the Bears could really use someone like Swift taking some pressure off the QB this week against the Jets.

This Jets team isn't as bad as they've been in the past. There's a legitimate chance the Jets beat the Bears in Week 4, as their offense isn't in bad shape, and their defense has shown some potential at times this year.

Bears fans shouldn't panic just yet about Swift, but this injury report is a worrying sign for the star running back's chances to play in Week 4. Mid-week additions and downgrades are never a good thing.
