Ben Johnson doesn’t appear to be very happy with Troy Aikman.
After their Monday night win over the Commanders, the first-year Bears head coach seemingly threw shade at the ESPN analyst after the latter was quite critical of Chicago’s Caleb Williams despite the road victory.
“It sounded like, from that game the other night, a few people weren’t particularly pleased with how we are winning right now,” Johnson said on Tuesday on ESPN Chicago without naming Aikman. “I woke up this morning and my kids were watching the second half before school, so I heard some of the commentary. But listen, in this league, any way you can find a way to win is a big deal.”
Aikman was all over Williams during the “Monday Night Football” broadcast, so much so that football fans on social media began going at the former Cowboys quarterback for his relentless fault-finding.
In perhaps the biggest play of the game, Williams hit running back D’Andre Swift on a short pass, which he took to the house for a 55-yard touchdown.
Aikman wasn’t impressed, calling the play “just luck on Chicago’s part.”
One drive later, Williams threw Olamide Zaccheaus what appeared to be a decent pass on third-and-16 near the Bears’ own goal line, but the wide receiver dropped it, leading Aikman to say: “It hits him high on his shoulder pads.”
In the first quarter, Williams threw an incomplete pass Zaccheaus’ way, and despite being 6-for-9 through the air for 56 yards and holding a 3-0 lead, Aikman said “he’s been off tonight.”
In all, Monday’s game was a solid one on paper for Williams, who went 17-for-29 passing for 252 yards and a touchdown without an interception.

He also had a touchdown on the ground.
With three minutes left in the game, Williams helped lead the Bears 36 yards down the field to set up Jake Moody for the game-winning field goal.
