It was all fun and games last season for Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears until it wasn't.
This team went from being a laughing stock in the NFL and the bottom of the NFC North to No. 1 in their division and a real championship contender in less than a year.
That's the good news, but on the other end, they lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the postseason, ending those Windy City hopes of going all the way in Johnson's inaugural season.
It would have been asking a lot to see Johnson take the Bears all the way in his first season. It would have been asking too much. But, it was still a dream, and now, the Bears are trying to come back stronger and better.
Bears and Ben Johnson told to beef up the defensive tackle position
If they want to reach that goal, Matt Okada of the NFL's official website says the team needs to beef up their defensive tackle position.
"The interior of the Bears defensive line, headlined in 2025 by Gervon Dexter Sr., Grady Jarrett and Andrew Billings, was not good enough," Okada says in a feature out on Friday. He adds the Bears "struggled mightily against the run and logged the sixth-lowest QB pressure rate."
So, they flipped Billings for Neville Gallimore, who Okada calls "equally average" and "added a few more depth pieces," which he considers "zero improvement."
The NFC North is no joke. For the Bears to come back stronger and win this division all over again, they should listen to Okada and look at some new options for the position.
