Bayern Munich may be red hot on the pitch, but it’s the weather that’s now grabbing headlines.
As they prepare for their next FIFA Club World Cup match, the German giants have been warned about extreme heat conditions in Charlotte, North Carolina — with the temperature expected to push well beyond comfort.
The weather forecast for Friday's game against Boca Juniors shows temperatures could reach 38°C (100°F) around kickoff, with humidity making it feel even hotter.
The match was set for 3 p.m. local time — right when the sun will be at its peak. And while Bayern's attack may bring the heat, this kind of weather is no joke.
A player can outrun a defender, but you can’t outrun heatstroke.

FIFPro, FIFA, and players react to the heat threat
Concerns are mounting as the world players’ union FIFPro and other organizations have urged FIFA to consider safety first. “FIFPro has consistently advocated for comprehensive heat protection measures including mandatory cooling breaks, adjustments to kick-off times to avoid the most intense heat, and the postponement of matches when conditions pose a serious health risk to players,” the union said in a statement.
FIFA has confirmed that medical experts are in touch with clubs and that cooling breaks will be implemented. But the lack of stadium cover at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium could leave both players and fans exposed.
Coach Thomas Tuchel has already voiced concerns about heat affecting players at the 2026 World Cup, which will also be hosted across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. It’s a warning Bayern can’t afford to take lightly.
On the field, Bayern are flying high after a 10–0 win over Auckland City, but this heat could be the toughest opponent yet.
Boca Juniors, dealing with injuries and suspensions, face an uphill battle — and now the weather’s joined in.
