Bayern Munich have taken back control of German football under Vincent Kompany, ending last season’s disappointment with a return to the top and a fresh sense of purpose heading into the summer.
After reclaiming the Bundesliga title, the club’s leadership have wasted no time in identifying the key areas that need urgent attention, starting with their unsteady defense, a thinning frontline and the critical task of finding a strong backup for Harry Kane.
While the arrival of Jonathan Tah offers some relief at the back, Bayern remain still short on trusted defenders after Eric Dier’s exit and ongoing injury concerns around Hiroki Ito.
The attacking department looks even more fragile now with Leroy Sane leaving for Galatasaray and Jamal Musiala set to miss five months following an injury setback.
Even before these new troubles emerged, Bayern's technical team recognized the urgent need to find a reliable backup for Harry Kane and now their renewed focus on this plan has brought them into direct conflict with Atletico Madrid.

Stuttgart are believed to be holding out for close to €80 million [$92m] but Bayern’s new proposal which is expected to exceed €65 million [$75m], could prompt internal talks at the selling club.
Woltemade is under contract until 2028 and remains a key figure for Stuttgart but the growing pressure from Bayern could change the dynamics.

Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the forward, seeing him as a potential replacement for Angel Correa, although they are unlikely to compete financially for a player who would only serve as a rotation option.
