Bayern Munich have been dominating teams this season, registering 10 straight wins to kick-start the 2025/26 season.
While they have been extremely consistent on the field, things haven't been smooth sailing off the field especially with contract extensions with a few players.
One such player who is still in negotiations with the club over an extension has to be Dayot Upamecano, who has been the most improved player under Vincent Kompany this season.
However, his current contract is expiring next summer, and the Frenchman will be open to talk with other clubs from January.
Bayern Munich are in contact with Upamecano's entourage but the only difference between the two parties have been over salary and signing fee that the German giants paid during contract extensions of Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich.
Therefore, looking at the situation with the Frenchman, Bayern Munich have started looking for alternatives in the market and according to reports on BILD, they have shown interest in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo.

But Murillo is one of the most important players in the current Forest squad and considering his current contract runs until 2029, they are in a strong position to demand a hefty transfer fee from the interested clubs.
Also, Bayern aren't the only club interested in the Brazilian centre-back hence his price is expected to soar.
Real Madrid reportedly showed interested in the Brazilian back when they signed Eder Militao whereas Chelsea are also keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old.
Why are Bayern Munich chasing Nottingham Forest's Murillo?
Bayern Munich's primary area of weakness in their backline especially after last season they desperately need reinforcements to improve their backline.
The Bavarians are not restricted to replace Murillo with Upamecano, they are also open to bringing him to Munich if they manage to free up funds by selling Kim Min-jae.

Murillo hasn't had the best start to the season, but he has been one of the primary reasons behind Forest's rise in the Premier League.
The Brazilian, who moved to Forest from Corinthians in 2023 and since then he has developed into one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League.
Murillo brings physicality and composure to the backline whilst being a primary factor in building up play from defense with his progressive ball carrying abilities.
Bayern Munich haven't had a defensive reshuffle in many years hence they are looking to sign at least one star defender next summer, who can be the leader of the backline.
Apart from Murillo, they are also looking at other centre-backs such as Marc Guehi and Nico Schlotterbeck, who would be much economical alternatives than the Brazilian.
