Bayern Munich are closing in on their 23rd Bundesliga title this season. They need to win a couple of more games out of the remaining four to bring the shield back to Bavaria.
They had a tough 2023/24 season, where they finished third behind winners Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart.
So when they appointed Vincent Kompany as their new manager, one of his primary targets was to bring the Bundesliga title back to Bavaria and looks like he is all set to fulfilling that target.
The Rekordmeister are already out of the UEFA Champions League and the DFB Pokal, so other than the Bundesliga, the Club World Cup in June is the only other assignment for Kompany's men this season.
The Club World Cup has been remodelled to allow participation of many more teams in comparison to its previous format. The prestigious tournament will see 32 teams from different continents competing for the crown.
It is scheduled to be played in the United States from June 13 and continue for a month till July 14. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are the other two Bundesliga teams participating in this competition.

What did Kompany say about the upcoming Club World Cup?
Kompany genuinely believes that his team have the balance and the talent to compete for the Club World Cup title. However, he also highlighted that some of the players may miss the tournament due to international duties.
"It's a special season with the Club World Cup. We've worked with every department, so we can create the best possible plan. Some players will also be in action with their national teams. It's important that we're top fit for this Club World Cup," Kompany said ahead of the Mainz fixture.
"When the first game of the Club World Cup comes around, then that's the most important game for me. We always have the goal to win, and that'll be the same there," the Belgian added.
He highlighted that some players will get a longer time to unwind than others, as they also want to plan for the new season, but the ultimate goal is to win the tournament.
"Some players will have two weeks of holiday before that, but some only five or six days."
"We've then got a short break after the Club World Cup, which we want to use and then prepare for the new season. When we're wearing this shirt, we always want to win," he concluded.
Bayern Munich will host Mainz on Saturday at the Allianz Arena as they chase their 23rd Bundesliga title.
