In a recent development, DICE's Battlefield 6 has emerged as one of the major titles implementing the use of generative AI to streamline tasks and curate cosmetics. Despite the official VP General Manager for the company, Rebecka Coutaz, confirming that they wouldn't be using AI for any segments of the title, it seems like they've gone back on their word to implement artificial intelligence to further their work.

The VP claimed that AI was only used in the preparatory stages in order to provide their staff more leeway to be creative. However, it seems that generative AI is now being used to craft skins, banners, and other cosmetics within the title.

In response to this, user @dhulqarnayn786 has stated that AI inspires no creativity. The community would rather wait for artists to work on creative designs rather than pushing out AI-generated content solely for the sake of marketing and generating sales. Along with this, another user, @MrProWestie, has stated that it's even worse that the developers decided to make an AI-generated cosmetic a paid item within Battlefield 6.

Another user, @Yakiniku_Party, has pointed out that this is not the first time that developers have gone back on their words. They had previously promised that they would not be implementing rotational aim-assist in Battlefield 6. However, as we have come to see, it has been added with the recent patch for the title.

Other users, like @JusticeKing363 and @KrakenButt2084, have quite a different opinion. They believe that AI is the future of gaming. Gaming has gone through major changes since the 90's, and it will inevitably continue to change as time goes on. As players, we simply have to accept it.

@BFBulletin Guys you are all acting as if ai isn’t the future of gaming .. it’s sad but change happens, gaming now compared to the 90’s has changed 110% but we got used to it… ai games will be the norm soon. Get over it. We can’t stop it change it, we have to accept it.

Battlefield 6 hops on the generative-AI train: Is AI the future of gaming?

There are quite a few mixed opinions regarding Battlefield 6 implementing the usage of generative AI to craft skins and sell them at a premium price. The gaming community, majorly, is quite disappointed with this action, and a large segment of gamers believes that developers should only use licensed artwork as cosmetic bundles for their titles.

The majority believe that the gaming community would have no problems waiting a little longer for fresh content if it is certified that it is original work, hand-drawn, and curated by artists and designers who put blood, sweat, and tears into making these products. All in all, it seems like the majority are vehemently opposed to developers using AI to push out their content in Battlefield 6.

There is, however, a small segment of the population that believes that AI is the future of gaming. They feel it is the next stepping stone to progress. As we have seen, gaming has undergone massive changes since the 80s and the 90s. It is merely inevitable that AI will govern the major segments of most titles in the near future.
