Barack and Michelle Obama had plans with Rob and Michele Reiner on night of murders

Barack and Michelle Obama were supposed to meet with Rob and Michele Reiner the night they were tragically murdered.

“We’ve known them for many, many years and we were supposed to be seeing them that night — last night — and we got the news,” Michelle revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Monday night, when host Jimmy Kimmel asked how she was doing after the news of her friends’ deaths.

“Let me just say this, unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous, people you ever want to know.”

“They are not deranged or crazed,” she continued, seemingly referring to President Trump’s Truth Social post where he claimed the late director had “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

“What they have always been are passionate people. In a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on, they were the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about.”

“And they cared about their family and they cared about this country and they cared about fairness and equity. And that is the truth, I do know them,” the former first lady concluded.

After the couple were stabbed to death — allegedly by their son Nick who was arrested in connection to the murders — in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, Barack released a statement praising the Reiners’ legacy.

“Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen,” he wrote on X Monday.

“But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people — and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.”

The couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, 28, allegedly made the grisly discovery of Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, after they were killed and told responding officers that a “dangerous” family member “should be a suspect.”

Page Six revealed Monday morning that Nick, 32, had been arrested on charges of murder in the case.

Officials later released photos of the arrest, which showed Nick being pinned to the ground and escorted into the back of a police car.

He was originally booked in DTLA’s Parker Center Jail before being transferred to Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he is on suicide watch and being held without bail.

An insider told Page Six that even as a “little boy,” Nick struggled with “behavioral issues” and “was always upsetting everyone.”

Nick has been battling drug addiction for more than half his life and has a history of violence.
