Bachelor Nation fans aren’t buying Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell’s breakup.
Social media users expressed doubt over the former Bachelor’s Thursday Instagram post revealing the couple’s split after four years together.
“Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts,” the former reality star, 33, captioned a throwback photo with his 28-year-old partner. “Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding.”
He concluded, “Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord 💔.”
James tagged Kirkconnell in the social media upload — and disabled the ability to leave comments.
Fans, however, shared their disbelief in the comments section of a previous post showing James traveling in London with Kirkconnell.

“pizza pit stop for anyone traveling through London🍕🇬🇧,” he wrote alongside a Wednesday video of himself and Kirkconnell chowing down on “everything [they] ordered at @crisppizzaw6.”
James shared a similar shot of their three pies to his Story that same day.
“With all due respect, the math ain’t mathing on this one Matt … have you been hacked?” one Instagram user asked, with others joking that the meal must have really been “bad.”
A third added, “So you are eating 36” total pizza together and 12 hours later you are doing a break up press release?”
Meanwhile, a Reddit user shared screenshots of James allegedly gushing about his girlfriend via TikTok — and looking forward to marrying her.

When one fan called Kirkconnell “gorgeous,” the “Dancing With the Stars” alum replied, “I second this.”
He noted that there would be “sushi, [a] cookie station, [a] pizza truck etc.” present when they tied the knot one day.
Kirkconnell last posted via Instagram for James’ birthday in December 2024, referring to him as her “best friend,” “teammate,” “sous chef” and “pumpkin” in the lengthy caption.
The couple, who initially broke up after falling in love filming Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” reconciled and have been going strong since 2021.
James and Kirkconnell’s reps have yet to respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
