Azzi Fudd shows off glamorous look before making rare WNBA history

Azzi Fudd has quickly proven she can command attention both on and off the basketball court. The Dallas Wings rookie showed off a glamorous look during WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago, posing for a series of stunning photos before competing in Friday night’s 3-point contest.

Dallas shared the pictures of Fudd on social media Thursday and offered a playful four-word reaction to its rising star.

“& that’s Miss Fudd to you,” the Wings wrote, adding a heart-eyes emoji.

The photos captured Fudd with a confident expression and polished styling as she enjoyed her first All-Star festivities as a professional. It was a different look for fans who have become accustomed to seeing the former UConn star knocking down 3-pointers in her No. 35 Wings uniform. Fudd was one of several recognizable players who participated in the WNBA’s Orange Carpet event. Paige Bueckers, Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson, Aliyah Boston and Sonia Citron were among the other stars who showcased their fashion choices in Chicago.

Azzi Fudd set to make rare WNBA history

Fudd will become only the fourth rookie to participate in the WNBA 3-point contest. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft joins Rhyne Howard, Sonia Citron and Kelsey Mitchell on the short list of first-year players to receive an invitation. No rookie has ever won the event.

Fudd is the only rookie in this year’s six-player field. She will compete against Howard, Marina Mabrey, Bridget Carleton, Natisha Hiedeman and Janelle Salaun. The opening round features five shooting racks positioned around the 3-point line. Four balls on each standard rack are worth one point, while the money ball is worth two. Each competitor also gets to select one spot for a complete rack of money balls.

The two highest scorers will advance to the championship round. Fudd enters the contest with 50 made 3-pointers this season. Her total is the lowest among the six competitors, but she has connected on an impressive 38.7 percent of her attempts from beyond the arc.

Her smooth shooting stroke made her an intriguing addition to a loaded field.

Fudd helping Wings emerge as contender

Fudd has immediately become an important part of a transformed Dallas team. The rookie is averaging 13.2 points, 1.9 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals through her first 26 games. She is shooting 45.7 percent from the field while playing 31.6 minutes per contest.

Fudd scored 11 points and made three shots from beyond the arc in Dallas’ 101-97 victory over the Portland Fire on Wednesday. The win sent the Wings into the break with an 18-9 record.

Dallas sits fourth in the Western Conference but remains only one-half game behind the Las Vegas Aces and one game behind the Golden State Valkyries. The Wings have positioned themselves as a legitimate contender during Fudd’s first season.

Her perimeter shooting and defensive activity have helped complement a talented lineup featuring Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale. Fudd will soon return her attention to helping Dallas climb the standings. First, she will have an opportunity to become the first rookie to win the WNBA 3-point contest.

The event begins Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Before attempting to make history, Fudd made sure to deliver one of the most glamorous looks of All-Star Weekend.
