After Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz put together a fantastic rookie season, which included winning the Rookie of the Year award, Kurtz has gotten off to a slow start. Through 28 games, Kurtz is hitting .232 with a .830 OPS and five home runs.

Despite his slow start, Kurtz has been getting on base at a high clip, with a .415 on-base percentage and 31 walks (42 strikeouts). Kurtz’s ability to walk has not put him in elite company, including one Hall of Famer.

Nick Kurtz's consecutive walk streak for the Athletics has him join some elite company

After recording another walk in the Athletics 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals, Kurtz extended his walk streak to 18 games. According to MLB’s Sara Langs, Kurtz is now tied with seven-time MVP and San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds, who had 18 in 2002.
